VIVAnews - 11 years ago today, on 18 December 1997, Soesilo Soedarman, former Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security, passed away. Soedarman was born in Cilacap, Central Java on 10th November 1928.
After retiring from the armed forces, Soedarman was elected as the ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States in Washington DC. He served as ambassador from 1986 to 1988.
In 1993, President Soeharto invited Soedarman to join his cabinet. He became Minister of Tourism, Post, and Telecommunication in the Fifth Development Cabinet (1988-1993) and the Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Security in the Sixth Development Cabinet (1993-1998). Soedarman died on 18th December 1997 at 69 years old.
